Setting Boundaries

To set limits, you must be an administrator and go to Configuration/Limits.

There are two types of limits:

  1. Limits on the maximum size of a transaction. These are designed to prevent data entry errors.

  2. net commitment-based limits at three levels:

    • for the organization,

    • for each trader

    • for each counterparty.

To execute trades, you must set limits for each of these types and levels: a trader without a limit cannot execute trades, just as a counterparty without a limit will not be able to access your orders, and you will not be able to access theirs—they will appear grayed out.

Note that for counterparties, a summary table allows you to track and manage limits:

Green indicates counterparties and maturities for which trading is permitted; gray indicates those for which no limit has been set—and thus trading is not permitted; light green indicates the portion of the limit that has been used; and orange indicates limits that have been exhausted.

Limits on counterparties cannot be set without first consulting their member passport: This article explains how to do it.
